Two weeks ago, the NY Legislature passed bill S.470 to investigate pro-life pregnancy centers—Governor Hochul signed this bill into law today, June 13, 2022. The reason why they are investigating pro-life pregnancy centers is to determine whether these pregnancy centers are a barrier to provide unmet health and resource needs of women facing unplanned pregnancy. One such medical center, ComapassCare, was firebombed early the following week.
Q&A:
- Why is Hochul and the NY Legislature bent on investigating pro-life pregnancy centers?
Answer: The only reason they are investigating pro-life pregnancy centers is because we don’t agree with them on abortion. Pro-life pregnancy centers do not provide nor refer for abortion.
- What do pro-life pregnancy centers actually do?
Answer: Pro-life pregnancy centers provide for the unmet health and resource needs of women facing unplanned pregnancy.
- Does this bill have any teeth?
Answer: No. It is a PR stunt designed to demonize the noble work of pro-life pregnancy centers instead of applauding it.
- What has been Kathy Hochul’s response to the firebombing of CompassCare’s medical office in Buffalo?
Answer: Silence. She has refused to denounce violence against pro-life pregnancy centers, which serves only to embolden the crime wave against pro-life pregnancy centers.
