Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin discusses recent comments by Benjamin Netanyahu surrounding foreign relations.
As talks between the United States and Iran continue in an effort to stop the ongoing overseas conflict, many are wondering where Israel stands. But Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear that it’s still very much involved – something Founder and President of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin would easily agree with.
In a video commentary from this past week, Netanyahu noted that he still has “full coordination” with U.S. President Donald Trump over what’s happening in Iran, and the two speak “almost daily” about the matter.
Though details weren’t provided, this does shed a little light on a situation that had been growing over the past few weeks. Reports indicated that Israel wasn’t being consulted when it came to the ongoing talks with Iran.
Some, including American-Israeli political consultant Dahla Scheindlin, have voiced concern over this.
“(Netanyahu) is doing so much talking about how great the relationship is that it makes me rather concerned about how much tension there is,” Scheindlin noted. “I wouldn’t be surprised, as the war is clearly going very poorly from all perspectives related to the original goals.”
Should it be concerning that Netanyahu hasn’t spoken more from Israel’s perspective, especially with their position in the ongoing conflict? Rubin joins us now to discuss the situation further. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.
Q&A:
- What are your thoughts on Netanyahu speaking very little about the ongoing negotiations with Iran? Is it concerning at all that we’re hearing more from President Trump on the matter, and not him?
- What do you think about the current relationship between Trump and Netanyahu? Is it going strong, or is there room for doubt?
- Is it possible that Netanyahu is trying to focus on other things, such as the rebuilding of Israel? Or is there something else?
- Could we possibly see Israel step in to provide detail if a deal between the U.S. and Iran does end up going through?
- Where do you see this conflict ultimately concluding? Will Iran surrender, or will more conflict be necessary until it finally caves in? And where does this leave Israel?
