Peace by Piece: Zelenskyy goes to Washington as Trump Readies Sequel to Gaza

As the world watches Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prepare to visit Washington later this week, two prominent voices are offering sharp insight into what may be the next major geopolitical breakthrough — and how President Trump could use his recent Gaza peace triumph as a model for ending the war in Europe.

Former U.S. Congressman, Jim Renacci (R-OH) and former Margaret Thatcher Speechwriter, geopolitical expert Geoff Gilson provide insight others cannot.

Geoff Gilson, a former speechwriter for British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, believes the Gaza peace deal was not an isolated success but a strategic template for a new global order. He argues that the Qatar missile strike by Israel, the 12-day war in Iran showcasing American military might, and Trump’s decision to lean on Netanyahu to publicly apologize for the Qatar strikes were all deliberate steps in a larger diplomatic choreography. Together, they sent a clear message to both allies and adversaries: the United States is once again the world’s ultimate broker of peace — but peace achieved through strength, not compromise.

Geopolitical Moves are Key

Gilson says this sequence of decisive actions not only solidified Trump’s credibility in the Middle East but also changed the way global leaders view him. “Putin and Zelenskyy both saw that deal unfold,” Gilson notes. “They watched how Trump used force and leverage to achieve the unthinkable — and they realized he might be the only leader capable of doing the same in Ukraine.” With Zelenskyy’s arrival at the White House, Gilson sees history on the verge of repeating itself: “Trump is preparing to replicate the Gaza negotiations and deliver a peace settlement between Russia and Ukraine.”

Adding perspective, former U.S. Congressman Jim Renacci brings economic and policy depth to the discussion. Renacci, who supported defending Ukraine based on previous U.S. commitments when Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons under the Budapest Memorandum, says any further aid to Kyiv must be rooted in accountability and realism. “We have to honor our word,” Renacci says, “but that doesn’t mean endless spending. Support should come as loans, not giveaways — paired with security guarantees that ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty without draining U.S. resources.”

Renacci sees Trump’s approach as a return to pragmatic statecraft — assertive diplomacy backed by strength, balanced by fiscal discipline. Together, Gilson and Renacci frame a compelling narrative: that the Gaza peace deal was just the beginning, the Iran confrontation reasserted American power, and now, the Ukraine-Russia conflict may be next in line for a Trump-brokered peace — built on the same foundation of leverage, credibility, and results.

Both geopolitical expert Gilson and Renacci are available for interviews to discuss what the world should expect when Zelenskyy steps into the Oval Office — and how “the Gaza template” could redefine peace in Europe.
