Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford ponders why other states aren’t following in a similar direction.
As several states continue to fight over restrictive gun laws, one particular state has made it perfectly clear which direction it wishes to go.
Per this report from NBC News, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a new law that allows residents to carry a concealed loaded weapon without the need of a permit. Surprisingly, DeSantis did so without any sort of announcement, but this still stands as good news for anyone that takes part in Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed-Carry as it’s called in some states.
Luis Vales, who serves as Florida State Director for Gun Owners of America, made note of the signing. “This has been a long, hard-fought battle, and we are excited to get a victory over the finish line,” he said. “Still however, senior GOP lawmakers have rebuffed our demands at every turn to enact open carry, which leaves Florida in very liberal company. GOA will continue our efforts to pressure state lawmakers to step up to the plate, build off this victory, and enact open carry. Keeping a policy on the books that was enacted at the behest of Janet Reno, which leaves us in the company of Illinois and New York, is something that every freedom lover should get behind.”
