Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Signs 6-Week Abortion Ban (Guest: Jim Harden)

CompassCare CEO Jim Harden responds: “It is the role of government to protect all human life equally—beginning at fertilization.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has left his own mark on the fight against abortion.

Late in the evening on Thursday April 13, Gov. DeSantis signed legislation that would ban virtually all abortions in his state.

With the law, dubbed the Heartbeat Protection Act, abortions would be mostly banned after six weeks, but there are exemptions when it comes to physical of the mother as well as rape and incest, up to 15 weeks of pregnancy. Additional provisions of the law were added to protect women and girls from sex predators seeking to hide their crimes through abortion.

Rev. Jim Harden, CompassCare CEO and pro-life strategist, says that it is the role of Government to protect all human life, beginning at fertilization. In an interview with Sean Hannity last year, while discussing exceptions to abortion bans, Hannity said of Rev. Harden’s views, “Your opinion is more pure.” Rev. Harden explained that all human life is equally valuable and must be protected.

While Florida’s Heartbeat Bill is a step in the right direction, Rev. Harden reminds all elected officials that they need to become what he calls “pro-life statesmen.” Rev. Harden recently instructed Republicans seeking office in 2024—such as DeSantis should he run for President—reminding them in February that they need to be able to articulate why they are pro-life and why everyone else should be too—including independent and Democrat voters.

Rev. Harden said, “As a pro-life strategist it is clear to me that Republican candidates are uncomfortable with the pro-life debate. Why? Because they talk about being pro-life as a layman, not a statesman. It is one thing for someone to have an opinion about abortion because of science, statistics—or worse—sentiment. Sure, it tugs on the heartstrings to talk about how much you love your Down’s Syndrome child. But that does not tell the world why government ought to have an interest in protecting preborn boys and girls under the law.”

While Florida’s Heartbeat Bill does protect more babies from abortion, it does not protect all people equally. “We are proud to support life and family in the state of Florida,” Governor DeSantis said in a statement.

Joining us now to discuss this further is Jim Harden, CEO for CompassCare, author of the 9-Point Protect Women and Children from Abortion Fraud and Injury Plan and Ethical Theory and Pertinent Standards in Women’s Reproductive Health. His expertise in the overall matter should prove useful.
