Lies About Pregnant Georgia Woman on Life Support Expose Intellectual Dishonesty
In recent weeks, pro-abortion activists and mainstream media outlets have used the tragic story of a Georgia woman, Adriana Smith, to push a misleading narrative aimed at discrediting life-affirming laws. The narrative falsely claimed that her family was fighting to remove her from life support and that Georgia’s LIFE Act was to blame for keeping her on it.
Both of these claims have now been debunked. Besides, here at Let Them Live, We see the value in all life, and we stand with women in crisis.
As initially reported by Live Action News, the real reason Smith remained on life support was likely due to the Georgia Advance Directive for Health Care Act of 2007—not the LIFE Act. Smith had no advance directive in place, and under the law, pregnant women in such circumstances cannot be withdrawn from life support unless the preborn child is non-viable. However, the Georgia Attorney General’s office has since released a statement clarifying that “There is nothing in the LIFE Act that requires medical professionals to keep a woman on life support after brain death,” and “Removing life support is not an action with the purpose to terminate a pregnancy.”
Let Them Live, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women in crisis pregnancies, continues to advocate for truth, compassion, and the protection of both mother and child. “We see the value in all life,” said a spokesperson for the organization, “and we stand ready to support women with love, resources, and hope—not fear and misinformation.”
Tacara McKay, Director of External Affairs at Let Them Live, criticized the misleading portrayal of the LIFE Act. “The pro-abortion media is quick to twist the facts in emotionally charged cases like this to make pro-life laws look cruel or inhumane. In reality, these laws are rooted in compassion and dignity for both mother and child,” McKay stated. “The public deserves honesty—not fear-mongering.”
Let Them Live continues to offer direct support to women facing unplanned pregnancies, helping them choose life through financial assistance, counseling, and long-term support systems.
