Dr. Debra Mandel Discusses the Importance of Family Connection – Even Though It Can Be Difficult

The author of Sassy & Rude: Her New Attitude discusses what motivated her to write, and how she understands how relating to family can be tough.

We see it every day these days. Families getting torn apart by little things, from personal decisions (like marriage or announcing that someone is gay or bi-sexual) to sudden changes that have everyone on edge (like a large inheritance).

But relating to family is quite important right now. Even though differences can come from certain situations, the ability to relate, understand and comfort in times of need can make a family grow even stronger. And though that doesn’t always look possible at first, there are ways to relate.

Dr. Debra Mandel understands this. Over the years, the nationally renowned psychologist has written a number of books that relate to personal matters, including those surrounding family. Her latest, Sassy and Rude: Her New Attitude, focuses on bridging the gap between mother and daughter, and the challenges that can come with said connection.

Dr. Mandel joins us now to discuss her experience and motivations with writing, and how that led to Sassy and Rude.
