Intro: One of the most unsettling yet rarely discussed topics of our current age is the horrific danger posed by an Electro Magnetic Pulse or EMP.
It could happen at any time from a solar flare or an EMP weapon detonated over the United States at high altitude. Overnight the United States of America could be sent back to the Stone Age. No lights, car ignitions don’t work, computers are fried, and virtually the entire infrastructure including hospital life support—all gone. Experts project that within one year of an EMP blast, 90% of the people in the United States would be dead. Q&A:
- Don, explain to us what an EMP burst is, both naturally occurring and weaponized EMP.
Answer: Both the Sun, and man-made nuclear weapons, emit a dangerous electromagnetic pulse.
- The Sun does this with both a solar flare and a coronal mass ejection (CME), however, the electromagnetic pulse waves from the Sun will only destroy the larger components of our critical infrastructures; such as our power grids and communications infrastructure.
- The EMP weapon is much more powerful, as it can be detonated at high altitudes so that the electromagnetic pulse waves are maximized, and directed at the surface of the Earth, directly below. These pulse waves can not only destroy our power grids and communications, they can destroy our electronics, including computers, whether plugged in or not.
- Both “events” (Sun or EMP), can destroy our society, but the EMP gets us there sooner.
- How difficult is it for a nation or terror group to detonate an EMP device at high altitude to wipe out the U.S. power and computer grids in a millisecond?
Answer: It’s getting easier, and more nations are acquiring nuclear technology. Our experts consider that N. Korea may already have a nuclear EMP on board one of its two satellites. Satellite detonations, missile launch from rogue ships, and even high-altitude weather balloons can deliver these weapons over the U.S.
- In the event of political wrangling keeping US from protecting our computers, cars and power grid, is there an alternative defense against EMP?
Answer: Hardening is unachievable. It’s cost-prohibitive, it requires a united government, and it is counter to the priorities of today’s entrenched powers. Shielding at the local level and securing an emergency backup infrastructure is both low cost, and our only alternative. In 2008; the SAFE STATE Project used this shielding method for defending certain emergency-use air carrier from EMP. In 2019; the same general procedures have been restructured for the general populace, and while our government fails to defend us, SAFE STATES is filling the gap by providing a survival platform for all patriots. If we can all prepare, organize, and unite under the same plan and standards, we can all survive and retain America.
- What can the average American do to help protect ourselves and nation against an EMP attack?
Answer: Embrace the reality of our world. Realize that our entrenched powers have defended their non-civilian infrastructures, but for many reasons, they will not defend us, the people. Defend your family by shielding your private technology. Follow the standardized SAFE STATE countermeasure, and prepare, organize, and unite so that we can all defend our communities together.
