The author of The Prophet discusses the recent comments made by the former CDC director.
As the United States comes off of what took place from COVID, many are wondering if such a pandemic could happen again. And a former CDC director believes that it could.
In a recent article published in The Epoch Times, Dr. Robert Redfield believes that such an instance could take place with the bird flu virus. “It’s not a question of it, it’s more a question of when…we will have a bird flu pandemic,” he noted during an interview with NewsNation.
What’s more, he believes that the bird flu will have a “significant” mortality increase over what COVID did. “Probably somewhere between 25 and 50 percent mortality, so it’s going to be quite complicated.”
The United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service noted an increase in cases with mammal species since 2019, but nothing that’s grown at an alarming rate. At least, not yet. However, Redfield notes, “So it’s going through a lot of changes. And as it picks up, some of these new receptors, it can get closer and closer to humans.”
He concluded, “I think it’s just a matter of time.”
