Congress Needs To Less Spend Money On “Research” and More On Keeping Schools Safe, Says the CCRKBA

A spokesman for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms explains why money shouldn’t be wasted, especially when it comes to saving lives.

As Democrats are pushing to finance “gun violence prevention research” to the tune of around $50 million over the next five years, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) have a much more effective solution in mind. They believe they should provide funding to make schools “hard targets.”

“Anti-gun Democrats want to spend $50 million a year for the next five years to finance boondoggle research by the CDC under something called the ‘Gun Violence Prevention Research Act,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb in a press statement. “That $250 million would be far better spent supporting local districts to hire armed school resource officers, improve school building security, and/or provide funding to local police agencies for personnel whose job is to protect schools.”

He continued, “Democrats want to sit around for the next five years pontificating about nasty-looking guns while parents, teachers, and local law enforcement want action now. Why spend five more years on unproductive research which,” Gottlieb contended, “we all know, will ultimately recommend more research? It translates to job perpetuation for bureaucrats who do nothing while our schools remain vulnerable soft targets.”

This comes on the heels of a shooting at a Nashville Christian school, where three adults and three kids were killed before police subdued the shooter.

“We know there’s a mental health crisis, not a gun crisis, and we don’t need more research to prove it,” Gottlieb added.. “Let’s spend the taxpayers’ money where it will do the most good. While we improve the mental health services we already have, use this proposed $250 million to harden our schools and protect the soft, innocent lives inside.”

Joining us now is a spokesperson for the CCRKBA to discuss this matter further.

Q&A:

  1. Why do you think Democrats are more interested in “doing research” rather than taking action to protect schools, students and faculty?
  2. Shouldn’t Democrats be more concerned with “prevention” instead of “prevention research”?
  3. Do you believe the Democrats are simply trying to make good as President Joe Biden continues to push for his assault weapons ban? Or is there another agenda?
  4. You’ve talked about the effectiveness of Constitutional-Carry (or Concealed-Carry) in the past? Would this be a viable solution for keeping schools safe, along with officers?
  5. Where can people call in to pledge their support to the CCRKBA?
