Colorado Is Dismantling Gun Rights (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

The Gun Owners of America spokesman explores the state’s latest moves to ban certain firearms from purchase.

Colorado legislature isn’t stopping in its quest to ban certain firearms from being purchased within the state.

Over the course of Tuesday afternoon, speakers went back and forth on the issue of restricting the sale of guns with detachable magazines. But at the end, Senate Bill 25-003 is moving forward, much to the dismay of private gun owners and various gun groups.

There is a provision that would allow individuals to purchase these restricted firearms, but only if they were able to complete a safety course through, of all places, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Many are calling this move “unnecessarily bureaucratic,” according to 9News.

“…you shouldn’t have to get approval from the state of Colorado or local government to take a class and pay fees to exercise your God-given, Constitutional right,” said Douglas Country Sheriff Darren Weekly, who spoke against the bill this week. “This will not stop murder. It will not stop a mass shooting. It will not stop suicides for those who are committed to ending your life.”

So when has Colorado become so focused on ridiculous gun laws?

Joining us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, who currently serves as spokesman for the GOA. Stephen is the “hero with a gun” from the Sutherland Springs incident in 2017, which he has since co-written a book about. We welcome him to the show!
