China’s Economy Could Be In Trouble – But What Does It Mean For the Rest of the World? (Guest: Nan Su)

The Epoch Times’ Nan Su discusses the possibilities from the country’s potential economic problems, and what it means for the CCP.

For some time now, China has been seen as absolutely relentless, not only with its pursuit of Taiwan, but also with its push to open up surveillance circles in various countries – including the United States.

But now the country faces an even bigger challenge, particularly in the economy department. A report from Yahoo! News reveals that its cash flow began slowing earlier this spring, following what it hoped would be an expansion following the ending of COVID restrictions. On top of that, exports have dropped for the past three months, and the U.S. just announced a handful of new restrictions that could make them drop even further.

That said, what kind of effect could it have on the world? Larry Hu, a Hong Kong based chief economist for Australian financial services firm Macquarie, noted, “The slowdown in China is definitely going to weigh on the global economic outlook. Because China is now the number one commodity consumer in the world, the impact is going to be pretty, pretty big.”

For that matter, we could very well see acts of desperation by the Chinese Communist Party to keep its grip from loosening. This means potentially more acts of surveillance in various countries, as well as potentially growing hostility with Taiwan and the United States.

Joining us now to discuss this matter further is Nan Su, a senior investigative reporter for The Epoch Times. Nan is an expert in all things China, so his expertise will certainly be useful for this subject.

Q&A:

  1. Do you believe Larry Hu has a point in saying that the economy issues within China will have an effect on the rest of the world?
  2. How will Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) react as a result? Could they become desperate in their effort to remain in control of their particular resources?
  3. Do you believe we’ll see even more surveillance stations set up over the next few months? Especially with the United States’ recent bans on their resources?
  4. Where will this all lead in the year ahead? What do you think Jinping and the CCP will do?
  5. Could this lead to potential war with Taiwan and the United States? Or can they even afford such a thing right now?
  6. Speaking of uneasiness with China, you recently contributed to a new Epoch Times documentary called The Final WarTell us more about it and why it’s such a compelling subject with everything that’s happening right now.
  7. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
