China Issues a Dire Warning To the Philippines After Multiple Run-In Incidents – “Act With Caution”

The Epoch Times’ investigative reporter Nan Su explains how these small situations could lead to a bigger conflict in the following year.

Tension has already been building between China and the United States over the past few months. But now the Philippines is entering the picture, based on incidents that have taken place in the South China Sea.

As reported by France 24, top China diplomat Wang Yi explained to Philippine Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo that the brushes between the two countries weren’t being taken lightly.

Yu explained that “relations are currently facing serious difficulties” between a firing of a water cannon and ships bumping into each other.

“The root cause is that the Philippines has changed its long-standing policy stance, reneged on its own commitments, continued to provoke and stir trouble at sea, and undermined China’s legal rights.”

Because of that, it was noted that “the Philippines must act with caution.”

It’s no secret that part of the tension could be coming from the Philippines having a defense treaty with the United States, which China clearly isn’t thrilled about.

But the real question is what will come from it, especially when Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos and Chinese leader Xi Jinping met during the Asia-Pacific summit and apparently settled said disputes. Are they rising back up again?

Joining us now to discuss the matter further is Nan Su, a senior investigative reporter for The Epoch Times. His knowledge in all things surrounding China should make him a useful source for this situation.

Q&A:

  1. What do you make of the potentially growing tension between China and the Philippines? Do you believe it’s enough for them to “act with caution”?
  2. Is there uneasy tension from the fact that the Philippines has a defense treaty with the United States? Or is it merely based on the incidents that have happened in the South China Sea?
  3. Weren’t these matters supposed to be resolved with the discussions at the Asia-Pacific summit between Marcos and Jinping? Or was that pretty much for nothing?
  4. Where do you see this situation going in 2024? Could China act with more military force if the Philippines doesn’t “act with caution”? What could happen to the United States as well?
  5. Speaking of uneasiness with China, you recently contributed to a new Epoch Times documentary called The Final WarTell us more about it and why it’s such a compelling subject with everything that’s happening right now.
  6. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
