The founder of Reconnecting Ministries discusses whether a resolution is at hand, especially with Antony Blinken’s assistance.
As the Hamas/Israel conflict continues, many are losing hope that any kind of deal can be reached for remaining hostages. However, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken hopes to change that as he arrives in Israel this week. He’s set to meet with several leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to see what progress is possible.
That said, however, Netanyahu is sticking by his demands in the deal. During his weekly cabinet meeting, he noted, “We are conducting negotiations and not give-and-give. There are areas where we can show flexibility, and there are areas where we can’t show flexibility – and we are standing firm on them. We know quite well how to distinguish between the two.”
Many have criticized Netanyahu for some of these terms, and even punishing those trying to provide details on what’s happening with Israeli military. So having him involved could be an issue when it comes to finally reaching a deal.
Still, US President Joe Biden remains optimistic that some level of ceasefire is within reach. “We are closer than we have ever been,” he noted right before the weekend.
Joining us now to discuss this further is Grant Berry, founder of Reconnecting Ministries and the author and producer of the Romans 911 project. Grant notes, “My focus will be for Israel to do what it needs to do to root out Hamas and to pray for Palestinians to want peace and turn against Hamas.”
