A representative for the Citizens Committee For the Right To Keep and Bear Arms explains why the tax won’t do any bit of good for private gun owners.
As if attempting to impose an all-out weapons ban wasn’t enough, California has a new thorn it’s putting into the sides of private gun owners – a tax.
A new bill titled California AB-28 is currently making its way through California government offices, which would unjustly impose an extra punitive tax on ammunition, firearms and additional firearm parts.
This poses a huge problem to those that collect guns or use them for business purposes, as it not only infringes on their Second Amendment rights, but also makes purchasing guns and ammunition more difficult as a whole. Not to mention that federally licensed firearms dealers would have to register and acquire yet another gun permit based on this new tax system alone.
California hopes to use the funds from this to combat “gun violence,” as they put it. However, by violating the Second Amendment, it’s really not doing anyone any bit of good.
Here to speak out on the matter is a representative for the Citizens Committee For the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), who explains why this is a dangerous and unlawful tax that will hurt people in the long run.
Q&A:
- Why is California imposing such a tax, especially if it goes against the protection the Second Amendment provides?
- Is California really this desperate to battle “gun violence,” instead of looking for more viable solutions to the matter? Such as Concealed-Carry, which is something you’ve promoted for some time?
- What do you think will happen if the tax passes? Could people challenge it in court, all the way up to the Supreme Court if it gets to that point?
- Could other states consider using a tax such as this to fight back against gun violence? Or will the Second Amendment protect private gun owners?
- Where can people call in to pledge their support to the CCRKBA?
The number to support the group is (800) 699-0992.
- Where can we learn more about the and its members?
