RAV Host Talks Bush Family Pettiness

Bush League: JV Move by Bush Family that Won’t Play Ball with MAGA’s Lineup

As Republicans fight to retain control of Congress in the 2026 midterms, a political ghost from the party’s past is threatening to undermine President Trump’s America First agenda. Political commentator and RAV Television Host, Jeff Crouere argues that the Bush family and its establishment allies have spent decades pushing policies that alienated conservative voters and are now working against the MAGA movement that revived the GOP.

  • Dynasty undermines Trump’s America First agenda
  • Establishment Republicans risk sabotaging GOP midterm victories
  • Bush family backs Democrat over Trump-aligned Texas Republican
  • Iraq and Afghanistan wars fueled conservative voter backlash
  • MAGA movement battles establishment for Republican Party’s future

In his latest Townhall commentary, “The Bush Family Still Haunts Republicans,” Crouere traces the Republican establishment’s record from George H.W. Bush’s broken “Read My Lips, No New Taxes” pledge to George W. Bush’s costly wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Those conflicts, Crouere argues, consumed trillions of dollars, cost thousands of American lives, and failed to achieve their promised objectives. Combined with policies on immigration and government, the family legacy helped fuel voter frustration that ultimately propelled Donald Trump to the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Now, with control of Congress at stake, Crouere says the establishment’s resistance to Trump is again threatening Republican prospects. He points to the Texas Senate race, where members of the family have supported Democrat James Talarico rather than Republican nominee Ken Paxton, a Trump-backed conservative. George W. Bush’s daughter, Barbara, donated to a political action committee supporting Talarico, while his brother Neil publicly praised the Democrat and criticized Trump.

Crouere contends that this is more than a family feud or a disagreement over political style. It represents a fundamental struggle over the future of the Republican Party: Will voters preserve the America First agenda, or will establishment Republicans reclaim control and return the party to the policies that drove its base away?

The stakes extend beyond Texas. Crouere credits Trump with energizing Republican voters, advancing legislation that includes tax relief on tips and overtime, and campaigning aggressively to protect the party’s congressional majority. He argues that Republicans risk squandering those advantages if they allow internal divisions to weaken their candidates ahead of the midterms.

Crouere can discuss why the Bush political dynasty remains influential, how its legacy shaped the rise of MAGA, why establishment Republicans are backing candidates opposed to Trump’s agenda, and what the GOP must do to avoid repeating past mistakes. With the 2026 midterms approaching and the 2028 presidential race already looming, he offers a pointed assessment of the battle for the Republican Party’s soul—and why the next generation of GOP leadership could determine whether the America First movement endures.

Crouere is the host of Ringside Politics on Real America’s Voice and WGSO 990-AM, president and general manager of WGSO Radio, and author of America’s Last Chance.
