Burning Man: Journalist who Infiltrated it is Available

New World Odor: Journalist Infiltrates Burning Man and Finds Elite Culture that Carries a Lot of Stink

Investigative journalist and Liberty Sentinel founder Alex Newman attended Burning Man this year, expecting to encounter an eccentric desert festival. Instead, he says he found something far more consequential: a temporary city where billionaires, technology executives, celebrities, political figures and global influencers converge amid occult imagery, psychedelic experiences, radical social experimentation and an explicit rejection of traditional Christian morality.

  • What Silicon Valley billionaires seek in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert
  • Rituals, psychedelics and occult imagery witnessed firsthand
  • Burning Man’s surprising connections to global power networks
  • Why Christians should pay attention to Burning Man’s influence

Newman says it is not simply a gathering of “hippies” looking to party in the desert. He witnessed what he describes as bizarre rituals, pagan imagery, drug culture, sexual displays and religious symbolism—including thethe massive Man and Temple structures. He also encountered camps and installations invoking spiritual entities and occult traditions. One particularly striking experience, he says, was seeing the event’s culture of radical self-expression collide with an apparent hostility toward overt Christian expression.

But Newman’s larger concern is who is actually attending—and what they believe the event represents.

He points to the presence and influence of Silicon Valley titans including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Eric Schmidt and Sam Altman, along with billionaires, celebrities, political figures and prominent members of global institutions. Newman argues that Burning Man functions as something closer to an elite laboratory for experimenting with culture, technology and alternative forms of social organization.

Musk has described Burning Man as a place he goes to relax, while Sam Altman has discussed his experiences there and connected the event to his vision of what a post-AI world might look like. Newman says that connection deserves scrutiny, particularly as artificial intelligence, psychedelic experimentation and radical cultural transformation increasingly intersect among technology elites.

Newman also points to Burning Man’s connections with the World Economic Forum, global philanthropy and influential political figures. He says Burning Man’s own leaders have openly discussed transforming culture and creating a “new way of being together”—raising a fundamental question: Is Burning Man merely reflecting cultural change, or helping create it?

After seeing it firsthand, Newman believes the latter deserves serious consideration.

He can explain what he actually witnessed in the Nevada desert, why some of the world’s most powerful technology and financial figures are drawn to Burning Man, what its spiritual and ideological undercurrents reveal, and why Christians should pay attention to an event Newman believes is far more influential than its counterculture reputation suggests.
