Biden’s Executive Order Calls For Gun Control

A Second Amendment representative explains why the restrictive order could be more of a headache for private gun owners than criminals.

Earlier this week, President Joe Biden issued an executive order to increase the number of background checks to purchase guns, as well as ensuring U.S. law enforcement agencies would be able to act on a bipartisan gun control law he put into effect over the summer. But when it comes to how effective it will actually be, he has his fair share of critics.

Following his announcement in Monterey Park, CA critics have gone after Biden over his “bold” move. One glowing example came from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) who noted, “[California has] got a higher-than-average mass public shooting per capita and they’ve got some of the strictest gun laws.”

He continued, “In fact, he went to Los Angeles County. Unless you’re White and well-connected, you probably can’t get a permit to carry a concealed firearm there. Fewer than 1-in-5,000 have a concealed carry permit in Los Angeles County.”

Fox News also published a report where others noted their criticism of Biden’s strict order.

Greg Gutfeld, who co-hosts The Five, noted on a recent broadcast, “Let’s face it, it’s almost all gangs; handguns; people getting released on the street — They get the gun confiscated. They know they’re going to get another one,” he noted.

In the end, it sounds like the executive order will be more of a pain on private gun owners and citizens rather than the criminals. With us now to discuss this further is a representative for Second Amendment Foundation, a group that firmly believes in the right for all citizens to bear arms, as noted within the Constitution. Their expertise will be quite helpful in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. You’ve often noted that a ban on “assault weapons” – like the one President Biden is pursuing – isn’t the answer to stopping gun violence. Is it because of the availability of such weapons online and at pawn shops?
  2. You’ve noted the potential solution of Concealed-Carry, or Constitutional-Carry as some call it. Why do you think this would be more effective than a ban, and why isn’t Biden even considering this potential solution?
  3. Some would argue that Concealed-Carry would actually “put more guns on the street.” What would be your response for such an argument?
  4. Rep. Massie brought up an interesting point about how gun violence has increased in California, despite them putting strict gun laws in place. Why do you think Biden and his administration haven’t taken a closer look at the effects of this – especially since they just made the announcement of this executive order in the state?
  5. Where do you see the battle for guns going in the months ahead? Could someone easily try to counter this executive order in court? Will Biden keep going after the “assault weapons” ban he wants so badly?
  6. Where can people call in to pledge their support to the Second Amendment Foundation?

The number to support the group is (800) 699-0992.

7. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and its members?
