Even if the report comes with “low confidence,” this could add fuel to the Committee’s investigation against China.
As if enough tension wasn’t already growing between China and the United States, a new report from the U.S. Energy Department suggests that the overseas country may have, in fact, been the origin for the spread of the devastating COVID-19 virus.
Though the report noted “low confidence” in the theory, it further noted that COVID-19 did, in fact, generate through an accidental lab leak in Wuhan. This follows the FBI’s previous statement about Coronavirus spreading from China, due to a lab mishap.
Even though the Department is still looking into the matter, Republicans that are working alongside the official Committee looking into the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) believe this adds plentiful evidence into the investigation.
Several sounded off on Twitter over the weekend. Senator Tom Cotton, (AR-R) , noted, “Being proven right doesn’t matter. What matters is holding the Chinese Communist Party accountable so this doesn’t happen again.”
Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO) added, “The elites and academics owe everyone who had legitimate questions and concerns about the origins of COVID an apology. The American people deserve to see all the information concerning the Chinese lab leak and the origins of COVID. This won’t be forgotten.”
