A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America discusses the recent actions of the Virginia Attorney General, and the repercussions that could affect the state.
For a while there, it almost appeared like Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares was going to make a difference for private gun owners as far as their rights were concerned. But that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.
Miyares recently defended the state’s One Handgun a Month law, fighting to keep the restriction in place even though similar laws have been struck down in the past.
But now a bigger problem has emerged, one that could have national effects.
Recently, twenty six Attorney Generals and the Arizona Legislature filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court, surrounding the case of Gator’s Custom Guns v. Washington. With it, they hope to overturn Washington State’s unfair ban on magazines holding more than ten rounds. The Court could very well agree with this, and by knocking down the ban, it could be a huge win for the Second Amendment and gun owners in general.
But guess who didn’t take part in the amicus brief? That’s right, Miyares.
So why the change in tempo? Why not allow Virginians to have the rights to bear arms, as the Second Amendment has provided?
A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America joins us now to discuss this situation. Either Stephen Willeford or Mark Jones join us to discuss the situation further. We welcome them to the show!
Q&A:

- What does this say for the state of Second Amendment rights in Virginia as a whole? Could he fight to put new restrictions in place?
