A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America explains why their endorsement of Rep. Frank Burns has been vehemently removed.
Betrayal is always the worst. Especially when it’s someone that has stuck by your side for so long, only to stick a knife in your back.
That’s the case with Pennsylvania State Representative Frank Burns, who previously spoke in favor of gun rights. But he recently turned that on its head by voting against Constitutional Carry during a recent session at the Pennsylvania House.
During a vote to instate an amendment that would allow Constitutional Carry, Rep. Aaron Bernstine pushed for vote to “appeal the ruling of the chair,” only to see the motion defeated by…one vote. And guess whose vote it was.
That’s right, Frank Burns. It goes completely against his nature, as he has pushed in the past for Constitutional Carry, and fought back against other anti-gun bills. However, with his “turn,” that means there are no more pro-gun Democrats in the PA General Assembly.
The Gun Owners of America, who previously endorsed Burns for his actions, immediately rescinded said endorsement, noting how they are “shocked” and “dismayed.” What’s worse, Pennsylvania gun owners must continue their fight for Constitutional Carry.
A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America joins us now to discuss the situation further.
Q&A:
- So, why did the Gun Owners of America originally endorse Burns? His previous actions for gun rights?
- What do you think made him “flip” like this when it came to the Constitutional Carry vote?
- How much does it hurt to see someone that originally believed in gun rights change their mind so quickly? What questions does it leave up in the air when it comes to those you believe that support you?
- So what happens now? Along with rescinding your recommendation for Burns, will you possibly push to have him remove from the Pennsylvania House? Or is there nothing that can be done?
