Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield have no objections about selling their ice cream to the oppressive regimes of Iran, China, and Cuba, but they refuse to sell their ice cream to Jews in parts of Israel. Why? That’s a good question. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to answer it when anyone asks.
Q&A:
- Many countries, such as Iran, China, and Cuba, have far more disturbing policies, but the Jewish Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield singled out the one Jewish state for their boycott. Why is this?
Answer: Ben & Jerry are simply expressing self-righteous indignation, hoping to curry favor with the radical left and the so-called Palestinians, an invented people with no historical connection to Israel’s ancient ancestral land. They are far more guided by their radical left-wing ideology than they are by their Judaism. However, neither Ben nor Jerry wants to be confused by the facts since that might cause them to wake up from their “woke” ideology. - What specific areas of Israel have been singled out for the Ben & Jerry’s boycott?
Answer: Judea and Samaria, often known to the world as the West Bank. Those regions include famous biblical Israeli cities like Hebron, Bethlehem, Bet El, and Shiloh, the first capital of ancient Israel, where I more recently served as mayor. We are talking about thousands of years of Jewish heritage that has been proven by historical records and archeology. Sadly, Ben and Jerry are both as ignorant of their Jewish heritage as most American Jews, but I would be happy to clear up their confusion.
- What gives the so-called Palestinians any land rights to Shiloh?
Answer: Nothing gives them that right. The so-called Palestinians are random Muslim Arabs who made up that name in the hope that the liberal news media will play along with them long enough and loud enough for people to believe there is a people group called Palestinians.
- Some of us may remember from Sunday school a people group by a similar name: The Philistines. Is there a connection there?
Answer: Now that’s a different story. The Philistines are an ancient enemy of Israel who defeated them, and the Philistines are believed to be extinct. God, Himself ordered the Jews to wipe out the uncircumcised Philistines. However, there is no connection at all to the Arabs of Judea and Samaria, who now call themselves Palestinians.
- Several months ago, Ben & Jerry’s halted all sales to Jewish communities in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and East Jerusalem. Is that ban still in place?
Answer: Yes, and that’s why they are still trying to rationalize that bad decision. - You founded Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund for children who’ve been victimized by Islamic terrorism. Will this affect your programs in any way? And tell us more about what you do, how we can support your work or get more information?
Answer: This kind of political opposition only strengthens our resolve. The website for more information is www.ShilohIsraelChildren.org
