Are We On the Verge of a Major Shift To Renewable Energy? (Guest: Alan White)

The CEO for Windshine Electric Generators explains why this could be the start of a major shift in where we get our power.

With gas and high fossil fuel prices shooting through the roof as of late, governments and consumers alike have begun seeking out alternative energy solutions – ones that won’t leave them so empty in the wallet. But now the International Energy Agency notes that, because of such growing interest, the world could see a record amount of renewable electricity capacity added this year and beyond.

With the help of numerous solar and wind power installations, alternate power could reach as high as 440 gigawatts by the end of this year – that’s a third more in growth than the previous year, bringing full globally installed capacity to 4,500 gigawatts.

“The global energy crisis has shown renewables are critical for making energy supplies not just cleaner but also more secure and affordable,” said Dr. Fatih Birol, the IEA’s executive director, in a recent statement. “Governments are responding with efforts to deploy them faster.”

That means more wind farms are set to be constructed, and more solutions will be brought to the table as said governments try to make solutions work. But is it sustainable for the long haul?

Alan White, the CEO and patent holder for Windshine Electric Generators, joins us now to discuss this energy shift, as well as what we can expect from it.

Q&A:

  1. So what brought about this huge shift to alternate energy? Is it the increasing gas prices, or perhaps something else in terms of available resources?
  2. Why do you think more and more governments are turning to alternate energy? Saving money? Keeping their people pleased? A combination of both, perhaps?
  3. Tell us about what you do at Windshine, and how your company is helping push progress forward when it comes to the acceptance of alternate energy.
  4. Are there any “danger signs,” as it were, when it comes to alternate energy? Or does it really depend on who’s using it and how?
  5. Where do you see the energy scene going over the next five years? Could we see an even more dramatic increase in gigawatts used with alternate energy?
  6. Where can we learn more about what you and your team are doing at Windshine?
