Anti-Israel Protests Getting More Violent?

The former Mayor of Shiloh, David Rubin, discusses the recent Columbia University incident, and wonders if such protests could get worse.

Over the past year or so, pro-Palestinian protests have grown in college campuses across the United States. But this week, it reached a dangerous new precedent with an incident that took place at Columbia University in New York City.

According to Fox News, more than 100 masked anti-Israel protestors stormed the Butler Library, forcing themselves past security and creating a dangerous scenario for students trying to study for finals. As a result, the New York Police Department was called, and nearly all protestors were arrested. (Since that time, nearly all of the students have been suspended.)

The State Department has issued a stern warning against such protests. “Foreign university students in America have been put on notice: if you break the law or support terrorism in our country, we will revoke your visa. This administration will not tolerate noncitizens causing mayhem on our college campuses.”

That said, they are likely not dying down anytime soon. In fact, there is cause for concern that they could become even more violent as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues.

Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.
