Ban Now Likely Headed to the U.S. Supreme Court
Executive summary/ short intro: A federal appeals court has just reversed a Texas court ruling blocking the FDA’s approval of the abortion pill mifepristone. This means that women, for now, can purchase the pill again unless it is banned again by the U.S. Supreme Court, which previously outlawed abortions less than one year ago.
The abortion pill has surpassed the number of surgical procedures for abortions, and it is easily shipped to states where abortions are illegal. This makes it easy for women to bypass the Roe vs. Wade reversal, albeit illegally, terminating their pregnancy in their own homes.
Apart from legal and moral concerns, is taking the pill safe? Helping us gain perspective on these issues is our guest, Jim Harden, of CompassCare crisis pregnancy centers.
Q&A:
- What do you make of these whirlwind decisions on abortion? Less than one year since the U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe vs. Wade, banning abortions, some states have reversed that reversal, and two court decisions banned, then OK’d, the abortion pill.
- Why do you think Texas Judge Rice acted so quickly to contravene the decision passed down by Texas surrounding the FDA’s actions? And why did the appellate court reverse that decision so quickly? And do you think the Supreme Court will hear this matter?
- Walgreens has pulled the abortion pill from its stores in Texas and some other Red States. Is it likely that they will put the pill back on the shelves?
- You’ve previously noted how abortion pills are more dangerous than a surgical abortion procedure. If so, how much more dangerous?
- California Governor Gavin Newsom has just announced that he was already purchased a quarter million abortion pills and has negotiated the purchase of up to 2 million more. He also tried unsuccessfully to have his state stop doing business with Walgreens due to their limiting abortion pill purchases. What do you make of that?
- Your pro-life pregnancy center, CompassCare, was attacked twice, including being firebombed. Have there been any arrests in either of those two attacks, and do they have any suspects? Also, do you believe we’ll see even more attacks on pro-life and pregnancy centers in the months ahead by groups like Jane’s Revenge or Antifa groups?
