A New NBC Poll Reveals That Gun Ownership In the United States Is At a Record High

A representative for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) discusses the importance of the report.

With an increase in crime and violence in the country, more private citizens are turning to gun ownership as a measure of safety. And a new poll suggests just how strong that ownership is.

According to a poll by NBC, more than half of American voters (roughly 52 percent) note that either they or someone they know in their household owns a gun. This is a record-high number based on statistics kept since 1999, and one that shows the importance of the Second Amendment now more than ever.

Alan Gottlieb, chairman for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) noted in a press statement, “Considering recent history with well-publicized declines in law enforcement ranks, violent crime making headlines on the nightly news and in the morning newspapers, it is no wonder Americans are falling back on the Second Amendment for personal and family safety.

“Why should anyone, including NBC News, be surprised by this revelation? Owning a firearm in this country is a right protected by the Second Amendment and almost all state constitutions, even though far too many politicians treat it as a government-regulated privilege.”

That said, Gottlieb believes some responsibility should still be maintained from this. “The Citizens Committee encourages all new gun owners to seek competent training from qualified firearms instructors, and to follow all of the established safety rules,” he noted. “Responsible gun ownership is an American tradition. Despite efforts to regulate the Second Amendment to extinction, this new poll shows Americans are not about to give up their most valued freedom.”

Joining us now is a representative from CCRKBA to discuss the matter further.

  3. Could this report possibly serve as an alarm for Joe Biden and his representatives, as they continue to push for more “gun ban” bills?
  4. Where do you see the battle over guns going in 2024, especially with the Presidential Election not too far off?
  5. Where can people learn more about the CCRKBA and its beliefs?
