A Federal Judge In Florida Has Just Knocked Down a Ruling On Possessing Firearms In Post Offices – A Big Win For Private Gun Owners

Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford explains why this is a victory for those that practice Constitutional-Carry.

As more and more states try to prep laws that would prevent people from carrying guns, one Florida judge has managed to knock down one that focuses specifically on post offices.

Right before the weekend, the judge ruled that a U.S. law banning people from possessing firearms in post offices is unconstitutional. This marks a huge win for those that practice Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed Carry as some call it.

U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle made the decision in a case surrounding an indictment of a postal worker, facing charges for illegally possessing a firearm in a federal facility.

The charge violated the employee’s right to keep and bear arms, as provided by the Second Amendment. Mizelle noted, “a blanket restriction on firearms possession in post offices is incongruent with the American tradition of firearms regulation.”

With us now to discuss this situation further is Stephen Willeford, the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America, a group that firmly believes in everyone’s right to bear arms. You may recall Willeford as the “hero with a gun” in the 2017 Sutherland Springs incident, one that he recently co-authored a book about. We welcome Mr. Willeford to the show.

  4. Where do you think guns will play a part when it comes to the 2024 Presidential Election? Do you think they’ll be a crucial issue?
  5. You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
