Democrats would like us to believe that the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants who are flooding across the southern U.S. border represent no risk to America. They are just hard-working people who are down on their luck and are looking for a chance to make a better life for themselves.
Until they aren’t.
According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained, CBP flagged 74,904 illegal immigrants nationwide for potentially posing risks to national security between October 2022 and August 2023.
Illegal immigrants who show travel patterns that “possibly have a nexus to terrorism” or may come from countries with ties to terrorism are labeled “special interest aliens (SIA).” According to the Department of Homeland Security, “Generally, an SIA is a non-U.S. person who, based on an analysis of travel patterns, potentially poses a national security risk to the United States or its interests.”
In other words, they aren’t people we should be allowing into our country, but that is just what we are doing because of lax border protection under the Biden administration.
CBP agents encountered 25,627 special interest aliens during fiscal year 2022, compared to 3,675 encounters in fiscal year 2021. This comes from the CBP data the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained, although it doesn’t account for all CBP encounters with special interest aliens.
The FBI is currently searching for more than a dozen Uzbek illegal immigrants that the federal government released into the U.S. after they used an ISIS-tied smuggler to cross the southern border illegally, according to the Daily Caller.
“This does not mean that all SIAs are ‘terrorists,’ but rather that the travel and behavior of such individuals indicates a possible nexus to nefarious activity (including terrorism) and, at a minimum, provides indicators that necessitate heightened screening and further investigation,” DHS notes.
It should also be noted that special interest aliens are not the same as illegal immigrants who are listed on the terror watchlist. According to DHS, people on the terror watchlist are “reasonably suspected to be engaging in, has engaged in, or intends to engage in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism and/or terrorist activities.”
CBP reported that 149 people on the terror watchlist tried to enter the country during fiscal year 2023, and this is only the ones they encountered. Who knows how many actually made it into the country?
This is just one danger to which the Biden administration is turning a blind eye. It does not even take into account the gang members, drug dealers, and criminals who are crossing the border every day. Then there is simply the burden that these illegals are placing on the social system.
Some Democrats have discovered the latter group because it has started to impact them directly. When it was impacting Republican states, they didn’t care. Now that they do care, the burden is overwhelming them.
This should be a warning to them that if nothing is done now to stop the other groups, they will eventually overwhelm law enforcement agencies. Those illegal immigrants who mean harm to this country don’t care who let them into America. They will rob, kill, and rape Democrats as well as Republicans. The difference is that the Democrats have invited them to do it.
