The Epoch Times’ investigative reporter Nan Su discusses the CCP’s latest actions, as well as recent comments from X social media owner Elon Musk.
Even though Taiwan has made it clear that China doesn’t own them, that isn’t stopping Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party from attempting to move in on the matter.
According to CNN, China has recently enacted a plan for integration of both the coastal province of Fujian and the self-governed Taiwan. And to further cement its point, it’s begun sending warships around the island in an effort to show off its military strength.
As a result of this, it pushes to make Fujian a “demonstration zone,” as well as the “first home” for Taiwanese residents and businesses once the so-called “blueprint” begins moving forward.
Beijing’s Communist Party has been noting how Taiwan is its territory, though they remain in close partnership with the United States. Not to mention that China has never demonstrated control of the country, and now it’s suddenly wanting it seems like a desperation move – especially as its election for a new President nears in early 2024.
Making the case even more curious is the sounding off of several Wall Street types, who believe Taiwan should simply be sold off for the sake of making some extra money. For that matter, X social media site owner Elon Musk noted during a recent All-In Summit, “Their [Beijing’s] policy has been to reunite Taiwan with China. From their standpoint, maybe it is analogous to Hawaii or something like that, like an integral part of China that is arbitrarily not part of China mostly because…the US Pacific Fleet has stopped any sort of reunification effort by force.”
That said, however, it doesn’t look like Taiwan is set to bow to this pressure. And in response to Musk’s comments, the island’s foreign minister has stated that it is “not for sale.”
So what happens now? Joining us to discuss this further is Nan Su, a senior investigative reporter for The Epoch Times. His expertise in all things China should prove useful in this matter.
