A Cease Fire Has Taken Place Between Israel and Palestinian Militants – But What Happens Now? (Guest: David Rubin)

Following three days of bloody attacks that have left dozens killed and others injured, a cease-fire has officially been called between Israel and Palestinian militants, according to reports late in the weekend. The operation began Friday with Israel striking against a leader of the terrorist group Islamic Jihad, and targeted a second leader just a day later. That target, Khaled Mansour, was killed in an airstrike.

With this cease-fire, there could be an end to battles along the Gaza frontier, though there are warnings that attacks could begin again should the said cease-fire be violated. Even with the truce, however, there’s still a high body count, as well as millions of dollars worth of damage to structures. There’s also a looming question as to what will happen next between the two groups. Here to discuss this matter is the former Mayor of Shiloh, David Rubin, who is also the author of seven books and founder of Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund.

Q&A:

  1. We’ve seen a truce made between Israel and Palestinian militants over what’s happening in Gaza. Some cynically refer to it as a time to reload. But the real question is what happens now?
  2. Do you see the cease-fire lasting for a good period of time? Or do you believe attacks could start up again?
  3. Tempers have been flaring for quite some time within Gaza. Where do you see everything going over the next few months? Or possibly into 2023?
  4. President Joe Biden was quick to welcome the truce and also called for a further investigation into civilian casualties. How involved do you see him getting involved in this and future matters?
  5. This battle has also left certain Gazans without electricity and other necessities. Do you believe anything will be done to resolve this, or will it continue to possibly get worse?
  6. Where can we learn more about you and your work with Shiloh Israel Children?
  7. You can visit our official website at www.ShilohIsraelChildren.org
