With Senator Joe Manchin reportedly set to decide against economic legislation to support climate provisions, President Joe Biden is currently mulling over a decision to possibly declare a national climate emergency.
While overseas in Jeddah a few days ago, Biden noted, “If the Senate will not move to tackle the climate crisis and strengthen our domestic clean energy industry, I will take strong executive action to meet this moment.”
The Center for Biological Diversity recently outlined what actions would come from a “climate emergency.” These include halting crude oil exports, stopping oil and gas drilling, restricting international trade and private investment in fossil fuels, and ordering defense industry to ramp up clean energy tech.
But the real question is, even in the face of growing heatwaves over the summer, would Biden declaring a national climate emergency really be that effective? Here to discuss this topic is Guy Mitchell, author ofGlobal Warming: The Great Deception. In the book, Mitchell sets out to disprove every science-based claim made by climate scientists and the proponents of the man-made global warming hypothesis. His expertise will certainly prove useful with this topic.
Q&A:
- First off, do you think Biden could be going “too far” by declaring a national climate emergency? What would this mean for the environment if officially declared?
- What do you think motivated Manchin to vote against the conditions of the economic legislation presented by his fellow Democrats? Is something possibly missing to do good for the environment? Is there too much expense involved?
- The Center for Biological Diversity noted that a “climate emergency” could mainly stop drilling and trade involving fossil fuels and crude oil exports. Could these be damaging over time, even in the face of trying to ramp up “clean energy tech”?
- You’ve disproven claims made by climate scientists in the past over global warming. What’s your take on Biden’s war with Manchin, and how do you think it will affect people if he does, in fact, declare the emergency?
- If it was your decision without any blowback from others, which way would you go when it came to a bill such as this?
- Where may we pick up a copy of your book, Global Warming: The Great Deception?
- It’s available for purchase on Amazon. There’s also a Kindle version.
