For many, the Fourth of July is a celebratory occasion. Yesterday in Highland Park, however, this was anything but the case.
A tragic mass shooting during a parade in the Illinois city left six dead and over two dozen injured when a gunman fired from an adjacent rooftop. However, the police acted quickly to apprehend the suspect and his rifle, so that he wouldn’t do harm to anyone else.
This latest event continues the trend of mass shootings in the United States, which are over 300 for this year alone. In turn, it also heightens the need of protection from police, even in the face of criticism of events, like the one that took place weeks ago in Uvalde, Texas.
Here to speak to us now about the situation is Michael Letts, a pro-police advocate who also serves as CEO and founder of In-Vest USA. They are an organization that provides bulletproof vests for officers across the country, through various charitable foundations and sponsorships. His expertise will provide weight to this matter.
