“Gun rights will now be back on the Supreme Court docket today and every gun owner in America will be watching this high stakes game that would allow Americans the right to carry pistols in public places!” states SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb.
The challenge is to a restrictive New York state permit law—similar to seven other states—requiring most applicants to demonstrate “proper cause” to receive licenses for a concealed handgun in public. With violent crime dramatically on the rise this may be a time to extend individual gun rights. Carjacking alone is up 286 percent in Minneapolis.
“Record purchases of guns and ammo were recorded during the pandemic, but with the continued efforts of the Biden administration pushing to defund the police and massive surge in shootings and violent crimes in America’s biggest cities the Supreme Court has got to review and we believe affirm a citizen’s right to protect themselves,” said Gottlieb.
