Suggested host intro: Nearly 640 people have been murdered so far this year in Chicago, triggering a showdown between Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara over mandated vaccines, according to Guns in the News. https://gunsinthenews.com/chicago-timebomb-anarchy-looming-as-fop-resists-vax-mandate/ Is the Windy City about to descend into anarchy as police officers resist the jab? Will Mayor Lightfoot dare to fire thousands of cops, allowing street gangs to police themselves? Joining us to discuss this emerging news story is a spokesman from the 2nd Amendment Foundation.
Q&A:
- According to the Chicago Tribune, Mayor Lightfoot announced two months ago that Chicago city employees would have to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by Oct. 15th or lose their jobs. That deadline has passed, so what is the status of policing the streets in Chi-town?
- Similar deadlines have been imposed for other government workers around the country. Police and firefighters in Seattle, for example, are also facing the same mandate. How’s that working out?
Answer: Yes, in Seattle, the police department had lost more than 250 commissioned officers over the past 19 months in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and last summer’s violent protests when members of the city council took positions against the police.
- But in Chicago, Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara has called upon police officers not to comply with Mayor Lightfoot’s vaccination reporting requirement. As a result, Catanzar predicts that half the force could wind up off the job. How realistic is that, and how might that impact the citizens of Chicago?
Answer: The most crucial question facing the city may not be who wins this brawl between the city and the Fraternal Order of Police, but whether Chicago residents will have to defend themselves amid the city’s spike in violence increasingly.
- How should Chicago residents defend themselves if half the police are gone?
Answer: They need to be armed just as police are armed. Twenty-three people have already been shot and killed in Chicago in the first half of October. Another 161 were wounded. It’s high time citizens started shooting back and stopped being sitting ducks in a shooting gallery, sending the perps on the run or to an early grave, rather than allowing the ineptness of Mayor Lightfoot to claim the lives of any of our loved ones.
- Where may we get information on buying guns and training on how to use them?
Answer: Saf.org
