A reflection of the horrific events that took place in Gaza three years ago, including the deaths of over 1,200 innocent people.
It’s been three years since the horrific events that unfolded in Gaza, when Hamas terrorists killed more than 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages. With today marking the three-year point of that event, former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin, founder and president of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund felt it was time to look back.
- While progress has been made following the horrendous attack by Hamas in Gaza, the war between the two sides still remains unresolved.
- Many took the time to reflect on the attacks, but New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani framed it more around Israel’s blood-spilling, rather than the actions of Hamas.
- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly believes that eradicating Hamas is the best answer to bring peace to Gaza.
Memorial events are taking place across cities and towns, remembering the many who died on that day. Even in the kibbutz, many are gathering to pay their respects.

“This is the first time we are doing all the things here in the kibbutz,” noted Zion Regev, a community leader in the area. “It’s a very emotional day, it’s a very difficult day for our community, three years after October 7.”
That said, not everyone’s memories are fond. Zohran Mamdani, the Mayor of New York who, in the past, made it clear how much disdain he has for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, briefly reflected on the Hamas attack. However, he then turned his attention to what he calls “ongoing genocide” by Israel’s hand.
“The suffering did not begin nor end that day,” he noted in a statement. “It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians – including more than 21,000 children.”
Some online called out Mamdani for his words, mainly because of his pro-Hamas statements he has made in the past.
That said, it’s a moment of reflection, with questions as to whether peace can truly be achieved in Gaza, considering Hamas still makes its presence felt.
Rubin joins us now to discuss this situation further. Welcome, Mayor Rubin!

About David Rubin…
David Rubin and his three-year-old son, narrowly escaped death at the hands of terrorists. Had it not been for his car suddenly starting, Rubin and his son would not have been so fortunate. The younger Rubin deals with the trauma to this day. That experience is what led David to establish the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, to help other young victims of Islamic terrorism, who need to process and deal with their trauma. Rubin, also the former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel is the author of seven books, including his latest, Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel, which has recently been made into a movie. Rubin is the founder and president of Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, established after he and his then three-year-old son were wounded in a terror attack.
