Dr. Andy Lazris, who has been on the frontline having treated hundreds of his patients with COVID, believes that how our medical community and public health officials chose to handle COVID 19 is tragic. “We based our policy on fear and ritual, draping it in a veil of faux science. Then we compounded the error by allowing only a select group of scientists to tout it on TV, essentially silencing everyone else,” he says. The amazing part of his stance is that he is a progressive.
Dr. Lazris has fictionalized his thoughts in his new book The Geriatrics Vengeance Club: In The Era Of COVID. The book tells the story of Ben and his small band of his elderly patients in a COVID filled world. With the help of a former NSA agent, a cat lady who turns out to be a CIA operative, a 103-year-old woman and a band of singers who bring Ben on a whirlwind mask-free concert tour, Ben’s life is turned upside down. Both Dr. Lazris and his fictional Dr. Ben both dare to question the anti-scientific COVID 19 policies that they feel are injurious to their patients.
According to Dr. Lazris here are the issues:
§ Masks are the symbol of all that is wrong with how we are handling COVID. There is no evidence that masks help prevent the spread of infection or prevent the wearer from getting sick. The majority of deaths and cases in this country occurred in people who were wearing masks or were infected by someone wearing a mask. And yet, masks are what we continue to rely on; a way to deflect attention away from our medical society’s failure to handle this in a humane and scientific way.
§ We neglected those most in need of help, vulnerable elders. The death rate of COVID in long term care is as high as 10%. It took us 6 months to have any testing policy in long term care, and we still don’t have the daily rapid testing that countries like Korea use to prevent infection inside such homes.
§ By quarantining, we did a great deal of damage to our society. We deprived both the young and old of the benefits of exercise and stimulation, we destroyed businesses, and we curbed human interaction, all without any benefit to society.
§ The media transformed this pandemic into a paralyzing plague. They put COVID under a microscope, picked only “experts” who agreed with them and the results were catastrophic. But that our governors and scientific leaders followed their script is an even more alarming.

Dr. Andy Lazris is a physician Board Certified in Internal Medicine with over 25 years of experience in primary care internal medicine and geriatrics. He has a Certified Medical Director (CMD) degree and is the director of several long-term care facilities in Howard County and beyond. Dr. Lazris graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University. He received his medical degree, and a full merit scholarship, from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and completed his residency at University of Virginia Hospital. In addition to being an active triathlete and marathon runner, he has published several books on medical care including Curing Medicare and Interpreting Health Risks and Benefits: A Practical Guide to Facilitate Doctor-Patient Communication (with Erik Rifkin), and is often published in newspapers.
