The New York City Mayor is downplaying comments made surrounding Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit.
Just weeks after insisting that New Yorkers had every right to protest the upcoming visit, it appears that Mayor Zohran Mamdani is backtracking on what he said. And former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin, Founder and President of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, is paying close attention.
- New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has backed down on his claims that he insisted citizens can protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the UN General Assembly next month.
- He noted that while New Yorkers do still have the right to protest, he “never encouraged” them – though his comments at the time say otherwise.
- Since his insistence that Netanyahu be arrested for being a “war criminal,” Mamdani has created a “nightmare” situation for police – which may be the reason he’s backing down.
Last month, Mamdani called for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “war criminal” for several heinous acts. He vowed to arrest him if he attempted to speak at this month’s UN General Assembly, which he still intends to do. However, he apparently doesn’t have the power to do so. That said, he did encourage New Yorkers to protest his visit.

Apparently, plans have changed. According to Fox News, Mamdani has since backed down on his comments, noting he will not be attending any protests.
“To New Yorkers, I have never encouraged them to protest,” he noted. “What I have always told them is that they have the right to do so in this city.”
However, he did note, at the time of making the video, even going as far as to say “take to the streets.”
Why Mamdani changed his stance is anyone’s guess. However, since the release of his video, he’s created a “nightmare” scenario for law enforcement, who warned that protests could get out of hand and leave thousands of officers overwhelmed.
As Netanyahu prepares for his visit this month, Rubin joins us now to discuss this situation further. Welcome, Mayor Rubin!

About David Rubin…
David Rubin and his three-year-old son, narrowly escaped heinous deaths at the hands of terrorists. Had it not been for his car suddenly starting, Rubin and his son would not have been so fortunate. The younger Rubin deals with the trauma to this day. That experience is what led David to establish the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, to help other young victims of Islamic terrorism, who need to process and deal with their trauma. Rubin, also the former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel is the author of seven books, including his latest, Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel, which has recently been made into a movie.
