U.S. President Donald Trump believed he had everything set in place with his 15-point plan for Gaza, believing that Israel would be on board and peace with Iran would be inevitable. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu just made it clear – he is not on board with the plan on Gaza as currently put forth. • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially rejected Donald Trump’s 15 point plan for Gaza during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

• Netanyahu noted that the only real solution for Israel comes with Hamas being “genuinely” disarmed, noting it should not be “fictitious” and Gaza will continue to remain unsettled.

• This comes just about a week after Trump announced his “monumental step towards lasting peace and security” for Israel with his 15-point plan.

During a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu officially rejected Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza, which he announced just over a week ago. Whereas Trump felt it was a “monumental step towards lasting peace and security” for Israel, he just felt it wasn’t the proper solution.

“Israel rejects the 15-point document,” Netanyahu noted. He also added that the Israeli military “will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed and will continue to thwart threats against our forces and our citizens.”

Hamas responded by telling the BBC that the group “reaffirms its commitment” to the agreement, and vows “to engage seriously and responsibly in implementing” the 15-point plan.

Trump has not yet commented on Israel’s response, but an official had previously noted that he would not be pleased if Israel rejected the plan.

Netanyahu has noted he’s in discussion with U.S. officials on how to move forward, but Israel will not take part in what he deems “fictitious disarmament”.

“They have ideas; some of them are acceptable to us and some are not, and we know how to stand our ground on these matters,” he said.
