GOP Slop: Republican Majority Delivers Plate Full of Talk but Serves Nothing of Substance
Congressional Republicans have the White House, majorities in both chambers, and an America First agenda backed by millions of voters. So why are so many conservatives asking what, exactly, has it accomplished? Political columnist, WGSO New Orleans radio host, RAV TV host, and longtime conservative commentator Jeff Crouere is available to discuss why he believes Republican voters are growing increasingly frustrated with a “do-nothing Congress” that risks squandering President Trump’s momentum heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

Inaction of Congress is Par for the Course
While President Trump continues advancing his agenda through executive action, Crouere argues that executive orders alone cannot deliver lasting reforms. Congress must codify Trump’s priorities into law, yet lawmakers have spent much of the year stalled by infighting, procedural delays and extended recesses. According to Crouere, history is repeating itself. During Trump’s first term, Republicans failed to capitalize on unified government, leading to losses in the 2018 midterms and opening the door to years of investigations and impeachment efforts. He warns that Republicans may be headed toward the same political cliff if they fail to produce tangible results before voters return to the polls.
Crouere contends that Republican voters did not hand Congress a governing majority simply to maintain the status quo. They expected action on border security, spending restraint, election integrity, judicial reform and the broader America First agenda. Instead, he argues, congressional paralysis threatens to demoralize the GOP base while energizing Democrats eager to regain control of Capitol Hill.
If Democrats retake even one chamber of Congress, Crouere predicts the legislative agenda will grind to a halt and be replaced by endless subpoenas, investigations and impeachment efforts targeting President Trump and his administration. The stakes, he says, extend well beyond partisan politics—they will determine whether Trump’s second-term agenda survives or becomes another casualty of Washington dysfunction.
