We Deserve Better Than Bondi (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

A better champion of the Second Amendment is needed in Pam’s place, according to the Gun Owners of America.

Now that Pam Bondi is officially out as Attorney General, it’s time to find a better person that’s prepared to defend the Second Amendment, according to Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford.

The track record for Bondi was pretty terrible to begin with, having poor defense of Second Amendment cases. But it’s when she stepped into the Trump-appointed role that trouble really began. Two gun rules put in place by previous President Joe Biden were supposed to be “killed” on his first day in office, but Bondi failed to follow through. As a result, the rules – the pistol brace ban and the universal background check rule – frustratingly remain intact.

What’s more, when Trump demanded a Second Amendment report from her, she never got around to completing it. Not to mention that her Department of Justice agency bragged about the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to Congress – a group that had been on the case of private gun owners for the past four years.

Obviously, Trump had seen enough and fired her after she proved ineffective. Now he has to be careful about appointing an attorney general that can not only resolve her mistakes, but also assure the protection of private gun owners, as noted by the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

Willeford, the “hero with a gun” who serves as spokesman for the GOA, joins us now to discuss this further. We welcome him to the show!

Q&A:

  1. Why did Pam Bondi do so poorly at her job as attorney general? Did her views simply conflict with Trump’s? Or was it something else?
  2. Was it a major red flag when she was trying to boast about the ATF to Congress, when they were still enacting rules put in place by Biden that were supposed to be “killed off” by Trump?
  3. Why didn’t she make any movement on those Biden rules?
  4. Was it really a surprise that Trump fired her the way they did? Or was it a long time coming?
  5. Do you have an ideal candidate you’d like to see replace Bondi? Or should Trump take his time to assure that the right person is in place?
  6. Once a new Attorney General is assigned, what is the first thing they should do?
  7. You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
  8. Where can people find your book?
    1. You can purchase the book here on Amazon, both in paperback and Kindle format.
  9. Where can we learn more about you, as well as Gun Owners of America?
