RAV Host on Jane Fonda’s Iran Love Affair

Tehran Jane: Vietnam’s Geriatric, Propaganda Princess Now Lectures America about Iran

Hollywood activism is back in the headlines, and according to political analyst and talk radio host Jeff Crouere, it once again reveals how detached many celebrities have become from the country they claim to lecture. In a recent commentary, Crouere revisits one of the most infamous examples of celebrity activism—actress Jane Fonda, whose Vietnam-era notoriety earned her the nickname “Hanoi Jane.” Decades later, he argues, the same mindset still defines much of Hollywood’s political culture.

The controversy erupted after Fonda appeared at an anti-war rally criticizing U.S. military action against Iran and accusing President Donald Trump of using the conflict for political gain. For Crouere, the moment felt like déjà vu. He notes that Fonda’s history of siding with America’s adversaries during wartime has never fully faded from public memory, and her latest comments reinforce what he sees as a long-standing pattern of celebrity activism that prioritizes ideology over national unity.

Crouere argues that the real story goes beyond a single celebrity. In his view, Fonda’s comments reflect a broader culture within Hollywood where political groupthink dominates, and dissenting viewpoints are rarely tolerated. The entertainment industry, he says, increasingly functions as an echo chamber where anti-American rhetoric and partisan attacks on conservative leaders are not only accepted but celebrated.

At the same time, Crouere believes many Americans are growing tired of being lectured by wealthy celebrities who live far removed from the realities facing everyday citizens. While Hollywood figures frequently use award shows, social media, and protests to shape political narratives, he argues that their influence may be declining as audiences become more skeptical of celebrity activism.

Crouere also raises a broader question about cultural authority. Should entertainers who built careers portraying fictional characters attempt to shape serious policy debates about war, national security, and American leadership?

Jeff Crouere is the host of the nationally broadcast “Ringside Politics” program and a longtime political commentator. He says the continuing prominence of voices like Fonda illustrates a deeper divide between Hollywood elites and mainstream Americans—and offers insight into why so many voters increasingly distrust both entertainment industry activism and the political narratives it promotes.

Crouere is available to discuss why the legacy of “Hanoi Jane” still matters today, how Hollywood’s political culture evolved, and whether Americans are finally beginning to tune out celebrity activism altogether.
