Getting into GEAR: Announcing the Gun Owners of America’s New Event In Texas (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

The spokesman for the group discusses the ambitious new event, which is set to take place this April in Texas.

The Gun Owners of America are no stranger to hosting events for its many members, as well as gun owners celebrating their Second Amendment rights. But this April, it’ll be hosting one of its most ambitious events to date – GEAR!

Known as Gun Empowerment and Adventure Recreation, the two-day event is set to take place on April 25th and 26th at Merus Adventure Park in Texas. It will combine firearm culture with the off-road/overlanding lifestyle, through real-world skill building, equipment testing and other memory making activities for both families and freedom-minded Americans alike.

Kailey Nieman, director of development and marketing for the group, noted, “GEAR was born from one simple truth: the overlanding and outdoors community is a vital part of the Second Amendment community. This is a place to bring your family, your rig, and your passion for adventure. This event is built on personal responsibility, preparedness, and respect for the great outdoors.”

Monte Bowen, who helps run the event for Gun Owners of America, added, “We are excited to be launching this program with a truly one-of-a-kind event, where we connect with people from across the country over shared values of freedom, responsibility, and adventure. We built GEAR to strengthen community, pass on hard-earned skills, and create memories that last long after the weekend is over.”

Joining us to talk about GEAR further is Stephen Willeford, the “hero with a gun” who serves as spokesman for the group. We welcome him to the show!
