What Comes Next With Disarming Hamas? (Guest: David Rubin)

The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses rebuilding in Israel, and what steps need to be taken in an effort to disarm Hamas once and for all.

Now that a majority of the conflict between Israel and Hamas appears to be over, there’s a question of where the next step will take place. And it appears it’s leaning towards disarmament.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to disarm Hamas. This comes after several reports indicate that the United States is looking to rebuild parts of Gaza following the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Obviously, that would be difficult considering that parts of Hamas forces still have weapons.

President Donald Trump had already drawn up a 20-point plan to rebuild parts of Gaza and disarming Hamas was part of that plan. However, an Israeli source indicated that the White House might get rid of the disarmament demand, even if Netanyahu looks to move forward on it. Apparently, they’re struggling to get other countries to send troops in an effort to demilitarize Gaza.

That said, Netanyahu remains determined. “Our opposition to a Palestinian state anywhere west of the Jordan River exists, is firm, and has not changed whatsoever,” he explained. “I have been pushing back against these attempts for decades, and I do so against external pressure and internal pressure as well.”

He added, “I don’t need reinforcement, tweets, or lectures from anyone.”

So the big question now is how Israel will move forward with a disarmament plan – and, for that matter, what part the United States will truly play in it.

Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

Q&A:

  1. First off, do you believe Trump’s 20-point plan to disarm Hamas and rebuild parts of Gaza has any weight to it?
  2. Do you believe Netanyahu is going the right direction in terms of disarming Hamas to move forward with rebuilding Israel? What do you think is the best way to do this?
  3. What do you think about the White House potentially backing down on the demilitarization demand because of the lack of military support from other countries? Is there any way around this particular problem?
  4. What about those states that still call for some kind of Palestinian statehood? Will this particular request gain any traction? Or will focus remain on rebuilding Gaza instead?
  5. Where do you see Israel going as 2026 approaches?
  6. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  7. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
