Trump’s Pro-Gun Agenda Is Working!

A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America discusses a new Reuters/Ipsos poll that shows where support for guns truly lies.

At a time when so many are trying to implement questionable gun laws across the United States, one thing is clear – more and more Americans are starting to push for their gun rights.

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll notes that many believe President Donald Trump’s pro-gun agenda is a huge push forward for the right to bear arms.

This is a big change from back in 2022, when the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, applied by then President Joe Biden, pushed for the ATF to implement additional background checks and create red flag laws with the help of federal grants.

This year, however, President Donald Trump implemented the “Protecting Second Amendment Rights” act, which directed federal agencies to review and eliminate regulations that infringed on the right to keep and bear arms. With moves such as the rollback of NFA taxes, there is a clear demonstration that, according to the Gun Owners of America, “demonstrated that a proactive, unapologetic defense of gun rights can strengthen both policy and political standing. The latest polling is simply more proof that Americans reward leaders who follow through on their promises to protect the Second Amendment.”

What’s more, there’s an interesting shift in more support for Republicans, who have been pushing for support for the right to bear arms well through Biden’s regime. And as a result, they’re seeing more push from voters, with a four point lead on gun policy over Democrats and a whopping 20 points on crime. And obviously this shift could get bigger, especially as more states, like California, continue to push for restrictive, unnecessary gun laws.

A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America – either Mark Jones or Stephen Willeford – joins us now to discuss this further. We welcome them to the show!

Q&A:

  1. During his time in the White House, why do you think President Joe Biden pushed so much for red flag laws and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act? How tiring must it have been for Republicans to continue to push for the right to bear arms in this timeframe?
  2. With Trump’s shift in policy towards pro-gun support, we’re starting to see a turnaround in support for Republicans from the voters. Has this been a long time coming for them? Should support have come much sooner?
  3. What does Trump’s support for a pro-gun agenda say about the ongoing push for gun rights in this country?
  4. Why do you think some states, such as California, continue to see a push for restrictive gun laws, despite this shift with Trump’s policies?
  5. With this shift in policy, is it possible we’ll see even more states shift to the Constitutional-Carry/Concealed-Carry policy as time goes on? Or are there some states, like California and Colorado, that simply refuse to accept it?
  6. Where do you see this battle going as the new year looms? Will some states loosen their push for these restrictive gun laws? Or will some, like Governor Gavin Newsom, continue to believe they’re the best way to go?
  7. FOR STEPHEN: You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
