The former Mayor of Shiloh questions the Court’s actions in accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of heinous crimes.
Israel has responded to the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court last month for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, appealing both in the process.
In the appeal, Oren Marmorstein, speaking with NBC News, noted that Israel “categorically rejects the baseless accusations” and is “determined to defend the justice of its positions and to strongly oppose the miscarriage of justice.”
In controversial fashion, the Court issued the warrants last month for both parties, accusing them of “crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024,” as well as “the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”
But many are questioning whether these warrants needed to be issued in the first place – especially with Netanyahu’s success leading Israel against Hamas forces.
Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin joins us now to discuss the matter further. He also serves as Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s fund. We welcome him to the show.
Q&A:
- Why do you believe the International Criminal Court issued these warrants in the first place?
- Could it be possible that the Court holds bias against Israel since it’s not a part of it?
- What do you think will happen with these warrants? Does the Court hold any sort of means to actually arrest Netanyahu and Gallant?
- This seems to be another heavy criticism against Netanyahu and his actions in the war against Hamas. Why do you think people are so critical of him?
- Where do you see the conflict between Israel and Hamas going in the year ahead?
