The pastor for El Shaddai Ministries discusses the drop in aid for Gaza, and what it means to survivors.
In this war between Israel and Hamas, it’s difficult to sometimes see the truly human loss that’s happening. With thousands dead and likely more as 2025 approaches, there is concern of which direction the war takes next.
But one particular area that’s taken a hit is aid to Gaza. Reports indicate that it’s reached an all-time low, just one month after the United States made a promise to not halt arms transfers. The reasoning for this was because it had seen “some promise” in enabling humanitarian aid to reach the area, though that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Humanitarian officials have noted that conditions have gotten far worse, with supplies dwindling so little that many are fighting for survival. But that’s not just from the supply front, as theft has resulted in a number of these losses as well.
“It got to the point where we were lucky if we got half a truck in,” said Louise Wateridge, UNRWA Senior Emergency Officer in Gaza. “People can’t have one day where they just know: my family will eat.”
So what can be done, if anything at this point? Joining us now to discuss this further is Pastor Mark Biltz, an author and the founder and Senior Pastor of El Shaddai Ministries in Washington State. His experience should prove useful in this conversation. Welcome, Mark.
