A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation explains why the city’s lawsuit against Glock is absolutely baseless.
Chicago government continues to go after gun makers in a tireless effort to tone down gun violence – though it’s the wrong kind of solution.
Based on this report from ProPublica, the state has attempted to file a suit against Glock weeks ago, believing that the way it manufactures its handguns make it all too easy to modify its guns from semi-automatics to small machine guns. The suit was dismissed, thanks to Federal law protecting companies like Glock from criminal actions of third parties.
But that hasn’t stopped the city from trying again, as it’s put together another lawsuit against the gunmaker, with notes that the city police have managed to recover nearly 1,200 Glock pistols armed with the “auto sear” conversion tools.
This is the latest effort by the city to proceed with legal action against lawmakers, rather than put together laws that would allow for Concealed Carry citizens to defend in certain situations. Alas, this lawsuit could be struck down as well, especially with the Protection of Lawful Commerce and the Second Amendment in place to protect companies like Glock.
So why does Chicago persist the way it does? A spokesman from the Second Amendment Foundation joins us now to discuss the matter further. They firmly believe in everyone’s right to keep and bear arms. We welcome them to the show.
