Over half of the states joined in a lawsuit asking the courts to block a rule from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that redefines “engaged in the business” of dealing in firearms. The new rule would require nearly every firearm sale come from someone with a federal firearms license, a clear violation of our constitutional rights.
The controversial U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland signed the new rule April 10 and it goes into effect May 10 if it isn’t stopped by the courts.
A representative for the CCRKBA (and Second Amendment Foundation) joins us now to explain the new rule and the lawsuits designed to stop it.
Q&A:
1. What is this new rule from the Biden Administration and how does it affect gun owners?
2. Why did the administration choose to implement this new rule now?
3. Tell us about the lawsuits. What are these states hoping to accomplish?
4. Were you surprised to see so many states jump on board this quickly?
5. How do average Americans view this new rule?
6. Do the states have a chance of stopping the rule prior to the May 10 implementation?
7. What happens next? What are groups like the Second Amendment Foundation doing to remove this new rule altogether?
8. Where can people call in to pledge their support to the CCRKBA?
- The number to support the group is (800) 699-0992.
9. Where can we learn more about the CCRKBA and its members?
- Those interested can visit our home page at https://www.ccrkba.org.
