The law enforcement veteran discusses the county’s plan, and why it’s bound to work compared to how New York is treating its police forces.
With New York government still unable to figure out what it’s doing with its own police forces, its neighbor, Nassau County, appears to have a plan of its own.
Executive Bruce Blakeman has announced a plan to deputize private citizens during emergency situations, in an effort to curb criminal activity and violence within his area.
Blakeman explained his reasoning for the plan. “I don’t think you can depend on Albany or Washington, D.C., because they’re more interested in giving away billions of dollars to migrants who are unvetted and bringing them to our communities that they are in protecting our communities.
“So, that’s part of the thought process in my mind. We need a group of citizens who are already trained, who already had experience in police departments and in the military and have them on reserve in the event that there would be a serious emergency.”
While some support the plan, several Democrats have voiced opposition to it, comparing these private citizens to Nazi “brownshirts” and even holding a rally outside of Blakeman’s office. Fortunately, he was quick to dismiss the criticism.
“It’s just left-wing, woke, progressive stuff,” he said to Fox News. “They claim now that they like the police, but these are the same people who wanted to defund the police.”
Joining us now to discuss this plan further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder, and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships.
His expertise in all things law and order make him a great guest for this interview. Welcome, Michael!
