Dr. Dan question #1: Do you believe that President Trump taking hydroxychloroquine the risks out weight the benefits?

Dr. Dan answer: Yes, according to the data hydroxychloroquine has many side effects including cardiac arrest because of the increase risk of tachycardia (increased heart rate) because of QT prolongation and also retinal side effects related to vision could cause a major problem. This can be especially dangerous if your in a vulnerable population taking this medication.

Dr. Dan question #2: Do you believe there is other motives that President Trump is thinking of regarding taking the medication?

Dr. Dan answer: Yes, research has shown that he may have family ties to the parent company who makes hydroxycholorquine, and we saw how share prices took off with Moderna regarding their recent advances with a potential new vaccine. Also, it appears any good news regarding the economy reopening and news of scientific advances like medical therapies being tried the market tends to react in a favorable manner to those manufactured medical companies.

Dr. Dan question #3: When did taking hydroxychloroquine first start being a treatment option?

Dr. Dan answer: When clinical trials were not present early on during the pandemic hydroxychloroquine was temporary used. This drug is typically used for patients with autoimmune conditions like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr. Dan question #4: Does the scientific literature support the use of hydroxychloroquine?

Dr. Dan answer: No, according to the scientific literature like the Journal of the Medical Association and New England Journal of Medicine it shows that the drug does not fight the virus.

Dr. Dan answer: The FDA is very cautious from a clinical trial standpoint and  which means White House officials must be careful when advocating this medication to the President
